Leonardo AW189

Transporting aircraft by road is always a highly specialized operation that requires detailed planning, technical expertise, and close coordination between all parties involved. Recently, Action managed the domestic transportation of a Leonardo AW189 helicopter, together with seven accessory packages, including IMO-classified cargo, from Multirio Terminal in Rio de Janeiro to Cabo Frio International Airport.

One of the main challenges of this project was ensuring the safe movement of oversized, high-value cargo while complying with strict handling and transportation requirements. The operation involved multiple transport assets, including a dedicated air suspension low-bed trailer for the helicopter, a separate trailer for the accessories, and a truck-mounted crane to support loading and unloading activities at the destination.

To minimize operational risks, every stage was carefully planned in advance. Route assessment, equipment selection, cargo securing methods, handling procedures, and coordination between all stakeholders were essential to maintaining the integrity of the aircraft and its components throughout the operation. Particular attention was also given to the handling of the IMO cargo, ensuring full compliance with applicable safety requirements.

Projects like this demonstrate how successful logistics operations depend not only on specialized equipment, but also on thorough preparation, technical knowledge, and clear communication between everyone involved. For project cargo and other high-value shipments, early planning and close coordination remain key factors in delivering safe, efficient, and reliable results.

At Action, operations involving oversized, sensitive, or high-value cargo are supported by dedicated project planning, experienced teams, and tailored logistics solutions, allowing us to manage each shipment according to its specific operational requirements.
